අප ජීවත් වන්නේ ඉතා වේගයෙන් ඉදිරියට යන ලෝකයකයි. මෙම අදිවේගි සමාජය නවීන තාක්ෂණය නිසා තවදුරටත් සංකීර්ණ වූ ගෝලීය සමාජයක් බවට පරිවර්ථනය වෙමින් පවතිනවා. මෙවන් වූ යුගයක කිසිම ජාතියක හෝ සමාජ කොට්ඨාෂයක අනන්යතාවය පවත්වාගැනීම විශාල අභියොගයක්. මේ සංකීර්ණ සමාජය තුල විදේශගත වූ ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන් වන අප සුලගට අසු වූ තණපලයක් සේ සංස්කෘතික, සමාජ අගයන් හා සිරිත් විරිත් කුනාටුවක අතරමං වී ඇත්දැයි සාධාරණ සැකයක් මතු වේ. මෙම ශ්රී ලාංකික සංස්කෘතිය, පාරම්පරික සමාජ අගයන්, සිරිත් විරිත් හා අනන්යතාවය පවත්වාගෙන යාම වැදගත් කර සලකන විදේශගත වූ ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන් ඒ සදහා නොනවතින අරගලයක නිරත වී සිටී. මෙවන් වූ සමාජයක හනමිටි කාරයෙකු නොවී, ශ්රි ලංකාවටම අනන්ය සංස්කෘතිය, සම්ප්රදායික කලාව, ඉතිහාසය හා සිරිත් විරිත් මතු පරපුරට ගෙනයීම ලෙහෙසි පහසු ව්යාපාරයක් නොවේ. "මණ්ඩප ශ්රී ලාංකික සංසදය" එම කර්ථව්යයට උරදීමට කැප වූ සහර්දයන්ගේ එකමුතුවකි.
අතීත ලෝකයේ ලංකාව ලොකු රටකි
අපගේ පලමු ව්යාපෘතිය වූ “ජැක්සන් සමග අතීත ලෝකයේ ලංකාව” යන මැයෙන් වූ කතාව සහ සංවාදය සැප්තැම්බර් මස 30 වන සිකුරාදා ඩුබායි පුරවරයේ කොරල් දේරා හෝටලයේදී පැවැත්වුනා. ජැක්සන් ඇන්තනි මහතා අප සමග පැය තුනකට අධික කාලයක් පුරා අතීත ලෝකයේ ලංකාවට හිමි වූ තැන පිලිබඳව අපව දැනුවත් කලා. එම කතාව ලොව පුරා වෙසෙන ශ්රී ලාංකික ජනතාවගේ, දැනුම වර්ධනය කිරීමටත්, විශය දැනුම් ඇති අනෙක් බුද්ධිමතුන්ගේ විචාරය සහ සාකච්ඡාව සඳහාත් අප මෙසේ අප වෙබ් අඩවිය හරහා ඉදිරිපත් කර සිටිමු…
We had the first project of mandapa Sri Lankan organisation with Mr Jackson Anthony at Coral Deirah Hotel in Dubai, UAE. Mr Anthony has spent well over three hours in a lecture and a discussion that was looking at the role the Sri Lanka played in the ancient history. He has brought in a wealth of information from the world history that spans from ancient Greek to British Raj era and conducted an informative and interesting analysis on how strong a nation we had in the ancient history.

It was all ready!!!
All seats booked, Sponsorships arranged (Touchwood and Sri Lankan… thank you very much!), Visas done, Hotels bookings done, Menus finalised, Flowers, Oil lamps in place… Only thing pending was to get a new shirt for me…
But unfortunate incidents happen… Our beloved artists Joe Abeywikrama passed away… Jackson, our guest speaker, as one of the leaders in the Sri Lankan art and media community is part of the team that was arranging a fitting farewell to the great maestro. We mourn his death as the mandapa.org community, we know it’s a bigger loss to our country and a week’s delay for our humble event is excusable…
We had to postpone the event to next friday, thats 30th of Septemeber. We lost our booking with the hotel, so have to move to another venue. We have the place almost finalised. Just need to confirm and let all of you know the new place…

Sri Lanka in the Ancient World
Mandapa Sri Lankan community is organising a lecture and discussion on Sri Lankan History with the famous artist Jackson Anthony. He has taken and invaluable job in taking the Sri Lankan history back to Ordinary Sri Lankan through his television programmes such as “Maha Sinhale Wansha kathaawa”, “Maha Sanchaarakayaa”.
Angampora – An Art, A lifestyle and a Fighting technique
Dandubasnaamaanya has created a renewed interest in ancient Sri Lankan Sri Lankan marshal art technique called angampora. It is nice to see that there is some concentrated effort in the country to revitalise this ancient art and take it forward to the next generation. “Anga” in the native tongue is body and “Pora” signified combat ( Singhala is the native language of the Sinhalese who are the majority in the country ). Body combat also unarmed combat, was called Angampora as only the human body parts were used to fight.

දේශපාලනය යනු අපූරු සංකල්පයකි. දේශපාලනයට විරුවන් ද්රෝහියන් කිරීමටත්, ද්රෝහියන් විරුවන් කිරීමටත්, පඬුවන් නිකමුන් කිරීමටත්,නිකමුන් මහා උගතුන් කිරිමටත් අපූරු හැකියාවක් ඇත. පසුගිය තෙවසර තුලදී, ශ්රී ලාංකිකයින්ට තරම් මෙම සංසිද්දිය ඒත්තු ගැණුනු තවත් ජාතියක් මේ ලොව විය නොහැක.
ජැක්සන් ඇන්තනි යනු මේ දේශපාලන ක්රියාදාමයේ යන්ත්රයට හසු වූ තවත් එක් චරිතයකි. ඔහුටත්, අපි සැමට මෙන් තමන්ගේම දේශපාලන පිලිගැනීමක් තිබේ. ජීවිත කාලයක අත් දැකීම් මත ගොඩ නගා ගත් තමන්ගේම දර්ශණයක්ද තිබේ. එසේම සෑම නිදහස් පුරවැසියෙකුටම මෙන් තම මතය ප්රකාශ කිරීමේ අයිතියක්ද ඔහුට හිමි විය යුතුය…

Sri Lanka’s tanks
Sri Lanka is covered with a network of thousands of manmade lakes and ponds, known locally as ‘tanks’ (after ‘tanque’, the Portuguese word for ‘reservoir’). Some are truly massive; many are thousands of years old: and almost all show a high degree of sophistication in their construction and design. Indeed, Sir James Emmerson Tennent, the 19th century historian, is fulsome in his admiration for those who built them.
In particular he marvels at the numerous channels which were dug underneath the bed of each lake in order to ensure that the flow of water was “constant and equal as long as any water remained in the tank”. Frequently, he notes, those channels had to be cut through solid granite with the most rudimentary of tools:

Sri Lanka is emerging from a conflict that was the background to our daily lives for last 30 years. Like all other elements, the Sri Lankan history was used, abused and incriminated by various propaganda campaigns. In this hour it may be a good idea to look back in to our history and get reminded of the 2500 year journey our country.
Any history lesson we get is an as accurate as the perception of the presenter. Therefore we will never know what really happened. However, if we listen to various theories, ideas and interpretations from various intellectuals, we may be able to get a basic understanding…
